Die neueste Ausgabe der Hockey News ist ganz der U20 WM gewidmet. Natuerlich wird sehr viel ueber Matthews als der beste Spieler geschrieben.
Die Berichterstattung ist sehr positiv ueber den ZSC und das Schweizer Eishockey. Matthews betont immer wieder wie hoch das Niveau ist und was es fuer eine Freude ist hier spielen und lernen zu duerfen. Sein Agent hat auch hohes Lob fuer die Stimmung in Schweizer Stadien.
Ich glaube nicht nur Nilsson vermisst Matthews, wenn er nicht spielt. Nein auch umgekehrt. Gestern war sehr viel brotlose Kunst dabei. Aber easy, er ist erst 18. Aber schon krass, wie viel Verantwortung auf ihm liegt. Und spielt er mal nicht - sagen wir - göttlich, dann hustet unser Team irgendwie bereits. Ist ein bisschen bedenklich, v.a. vorausschauend auf die PO's.

So what? Matthews hat die Erwartungen erfüllt wenn nicht sogar übertroffen! Und bitte immer mal wieder in Errinerung rufen, dass der Junge erst seit knapp 2 Monaten legal Wein trinken darf! Seine Plus/Minus-Statistik ist mir persönlich egal, sie sagt nichts über den Einfluss aus, welcher er auf unser Spiel hat, und dieser Einfluss ist immens! Meiner Meinung nach fast schon zu immens. Die designierten Leader, welche zum Teil sehr weit von ihrer Normalform (ich sage nicht mal Bestform) entfernt sind, sind nun gefragt. Von daher ist es gar nicht mal schlecht, dass Matthews nun wieder ein paar Spiele nicht dabei ist..

Hahaha.... usgrechnet du, wo de Siegethaler immer (aber würkli immer) kritisiersch und für unglaublich schlecht befindsch, luegsch uf Plus-/Minus-Statistik. Leischs der immer so, dass es grad passt. I de Plus-/Minus-Statistik isch de Siegenthaler nämli mit Plus 10 (!!!) de zweitbest i eusere Mannschaft.

Hine sehr solid, gäg füre und im Abschluss no vill Verbesserigspotenzial, aber er isch au no sehr jung.
Trotzdem für mich nachem Blindi und Geering euse 3.-bescht Verteidiger..

Well, dänn händ de Crawford, bzw. eusi ganzi Organisation inkl. Sportchef etc, sowie au alli NHL Scouts unrächt - im Gägesatz zu dir.
Verstah mich bitte nöd falsch, de Überhammer isch er nöd, bzw. nonig. Aber e FLÄSCHE????

U.S. coach Ron Wilson said he's looking forward to working with Matthews.
He He de Wilson....häd 1988 au mal für de Z gspielt, isch aber nöd sehr beliebt gsi. 
Aber häd nachher e grossi, sehr grossi NHL Karriere als Coach gmacht. World Cup of Hockey 1996 gunne mit de Amis. Respect!

"I think it's a lot faster and it forces you to really elevate your game, make quicker plays and be alert at all times. It's obviously a pretty high-skilled league and there's a lot of dangerous players, especially in the defensive zone. You have to be aware where players are and make sure you're in the right position."
What is it like playing for the fans in Switzerland? How has the media been?
"It's pretty cool. There are some cool rinks and it's a great atmosphere in all of them. There's always one section at each arena, kind of like college hockey, where it's similar to a student section but they have flags and banners and just non-stop chanting. Then there's the other team's section as well, and they're always going at it with each other. It's fun to be there and be right in the middle of that atmosphere. I think there's a big fan base in Zurich, and it's a well-recognized city. Zurich is obviously a team that's been known for winning, and that's kind of what fans and media expect from us, so it's pretty widely covered in Switzerland, but nothing is too crazy and everyone is respectful."

So far, the decision has worked out well. Matthews has 25 points in 22 games for Zurich this season. His 14 goals lead his team. And in a league that his head coach Marc Crawford describes as a notch above the AHL in terms of skill, Matthews “stands out every game.”
